Lively Wallpaper is developed by Dani John (rocksdanister). Download it from the Microsoft Store or the GitHub releases page. This website does not ship a custom installer.
What you need
The project targets 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. You need enough free disk space for the app plus any video wallpapers you add later. A dedicated GPU helps with 4K or shader wallpapers, but the documented minimum is a DirectX 11 compatible GPU, including many integrated chips.
Option 1: Microsoft Store
- Open the official Store listing for Lively Wallpaper.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account if the Store asks for one.
- Install the app and wait until Windows reports it as installed.
- Launch Lively from the Start menu or the system tray.
The Store build is useful if you want automatic updates through Windows. If the listing and this page disagree, follow the Store page.
Option 2: GitHub installer
- Open the official repository at github.com/rocksdanister/lively.
- Go to Releases and download the installer published by the project, not a fork.
- Run the installer and finish the setup wizard.
- Open Lively and confirm the library window appears.
GitHub is the source of the project’s release notes and source code. Use it if you want the build the developers publish directly.
Check that setup worked
- Lively appears in the system tray.
- The library lists built-in wallpapers such as shaders or sample scenes.
- Applying a built-in wallpaper changes the desktop background.
If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unfamiliar publisher on a file you did not get from GitHub or the Store, stop and go back to the official source. Do not bypass security prompts for unofficial copies.
Next step
After Lively opens, you can set a video as a live wallpaper or browse this site’s library.
